In September 2019 I participated in a documentary project held in a male penitentiary in Botosani, North Romania. Together with the inmates from section 5, I documented what it is like to be imprisoned. They were given a 60-minute cassette to record for a week. The result is a 12-minute video essay. Section 5 is where the inmates are relocated when their punishment is due in less than a year. The essay combines documentary material shot by me and short diary films made by the prisoners themselves using the same camera.
